'Until you make peace with who you are, you'll never be content with what you have.'
- Doris Mortman
I accepted a 30 day painting challenge. I may not paint every day or be able to complete to complete some paintings in one day, and, yet, I am up for it. It's not always easy to figure out what I am going to paint or when it will be completed. The most important thing is I committed to it and was asked to be a part of an art show. They emailed and asked me (The Chocolate and Art Show (An LA art show based across the country! Yay!)) Everything has been shifting.
We tend to avoid the uncomfortable parts of life and remain on the hamster wheel of life we 'should' be living. We accept others opinions and suggestions over our own desires and intuition. We had a fire burning in us as a child, and it was snuffed by our own family's (or society's) cycle of soul deterioration.
We are told, 'You can't do that,' 'You're not good enough,' 'You're not smart enough,' 'Girls (or boys) don't do that,' 'You can do that when you graduate, start your career, have a job, etc.' And the negative cycle continues. Most of us are so ridden with fear, we can even say we do not know what our dream was as a child. When we get in tune with our truth, we have to remove the blocks that have prevented us from following our soul purpose in life. We are not here to work, make money, compare ourselves to others; we are here to live our passions and love each other.
It is very difficult to get past the doubts, nasty voices and negative people. Though, when we start to open our hearts to the desires, our world changes around us. Here are a few things we can start to do to reach for the stars.
1) BE STILL. We often are so disconnected and have been on the hamster wheel of life, that we lose touch with our heart's desire. Here comes the part we do not want to hear...the best way to listen to your heart is to connect by sitting quietly and silencing the chaos we have created by Meditating, Journaling, and when we struggle with the quiet, Listening to music from a time in our life we were more connected to who we are. (I listen to my favorite bands and dance often, when I need to disconnect with life. I usually paint in silence because I allow my heart to guide the paintbrush.)
2) DISCONNECT. We are often too busy to take the time to do the things we enjoy doing. Even when we are unsure of what we want to do, when we disconnect from work, our responsibilities things shift and we become more aligned with our dreams. It is up to us to MAKE time for it. We choose to fill up our time and stay on the wheel because its all we know. We have been trained to what we must do, have to do, by the same people who stifle their own desires.
3) PICK 'IT' UP. Whatever 'it' is for each one of us, the most important thing, is to make some time, even if it's 5 minutes. When we are unsure, we need to just do something. When I ask people about what happened the last time they did, let's say, play the guitar. Their answer is usually that hours went by without even realizing it. It's amazing how lost we can get. Or are we really being found? It's not work once you tune in to what you are meant to be doing.
The Universe knows our plan, and no matter what we do to avoid it, it will always be there. Our happiness depends on it. Life gets a little easier, when we follow our dreams. Things tend to fall into place. Little miracles happen. We are often skeptical because someone told us that we cannot make a living while being an artist, musician, etc. That's because we have misunderstood abundance to have to do with money and things, rather than our true happiness.
BE Joy, BE Love, BE YOU!
